GHCC announce new professional

Great Harwood Cricket Club are pleased to announce that indian all rounder Syed Shahabuddin is our new professional for the 2008 season.

Syed Shahabuddin is an exciting all-rounder who plays for Anthra, Chennai in India. He has also contracted to play in the breakaway Indian Cricket League this winter.

It is hoped that Shahabuddin will bring strength to the bowling with his accurate seam bowling, whilst further strengthening the batting in the upper order.

Shahabuddin has spent the 2007 at Moddershall Cricket Club in the North Staffordshire and South Cheshire Premier Division, amassing 709 runs from only 18 innings at an average of 47, and took 44 wickets at an average of just 20.

Shahabuddin acted as one of the substitute professionals during the 2007 season where a consistent professional was hard to come by. The instant impression made by Shahabuddin in that period was instrumental in the club’s decision to engage him for the 2008 season.
